My weekend was both relaxing and busy. Friday night I did not do much but wash clothes. I did swing by my brother’s and took him some pinto beans and watermelon. I enjoyed our short visit, and I picked up his laundry to do for him. I am enjoying so much helping him out. He suffers with Parkinson’s. Though he is far from bedridden, he is having difficulty with some minor issues so it brings me great joy to help alleviate some of his physical handicaps.
Saturday my sister and I went on a road trip to visit our baby brother. It was about a 3-hour drive each way, but as always, we had a wonderful time. Full of laughter and fun. On the way home, we stopped and had dinner. Our drive back was exciting and a bit long ... My sister was getting a bit anxious, I think ... she was wondering which direction I was taking to get home and how long it would take us to get there. We laughed and just had a nice trip. It was long overdue after so much happening during the past several months.
Sunday, as always, I enjoyed going to church and fellowshipping with my new church family. It is our third week there and I think we may end up staying. Everyone seems very kind, and they certainly have reached out to us. I am today taking a dinner over to a family in the church whose wife got kicked in the face by a horse. Ouch! You know she has to be in pain so please lift her up in prayer, along with her family. I made a new recipe. Not sure this is the thing to do when you are taking food to a family for the first time, but hey ... I am brave! My husband says it is good so I am going with it.
After church on Sunday we went to a family reunion. Not my family or my husband’s, but people that we know and have known for years. If I tried to explain the connection between them and us ... well we don’t have enough time. It would be a very interesting book!!!! I so enjoyed seeing people who hold a special place in my heart. It was long overdue. I had not been to one of their reunions in over two years, and prior to that, it had been about 14 years. Me and my best friend, who I lost many years ago, used to go every year. When she went home to heaven, I lost my desire. We had so much fun. One person I so enjoyed this past weekend shared memories with me of our past years, and it was nice to reminsce. I am glad we went. I told my sister on Saturday I truly felt led to go this year.
Today, on my last day of my 3-day weekend, I just chilled for a bit. My husband and I ventured down to the lake for a nice seafood dinner. Then we headed on to pick up my son from his dad’s. Now we wait to get the family their dinner for tomorrow night, and then I am going to chill afterwards. I should be writing some articles God has placed on my heart, but I am simply not in the mood. He has placed the ideas for the articles in my heart, but He has not nudged me to move forward yet so I wait.
I am getting excited as the raffle we are having for my sister ... the one who is battling breast cancer ... kicks off this week. We have ordered the grand prize and I cannot wait to show pictures of it. I am ordering the raffle tickets as soon as I finish here. If you would like more information or are interested in selling tickets for me, please let me know. Then, of course, on November 7th we are having a “Pre-Christmas in December Fundraiser for The Rogers Family” which should be nice too. We will have lots of vendors, food, music, 50/50 raffle, drawing for the winner of the upcoming raffle, and more. If you need to reserve your spot as a vendor, please get in touch with me. Also, we still have the "GoFundMe" account online if you wish to make a monetary donation to The Rogers Family. Every little bit helps no matter how small. Cathy is a self-employed contractor who works from home. When she does not work, she does not get paid. She has been in and out of the hospital several times since last June. She has two for sure surgeries pending, and maybe a third. God bless you all who have donated thus far, and all of those who have volunteered to help with the fundraiser and the upcoming raffle.
Have to run ... I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend too.
